{"identifier":"CVE-2026-101935","cve":{"id":"CVE-2026-101935","description":"The Echo Knowledge Base – Documentation, FAQs, Chat & Smart Search plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting via the 'new_kb_config' parameter (specifically the article-mobile-break-point-v2 key, among other config keys interpolated into the <style> element) in versions up to, and including, 17.214.0 This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in EPKB_Frontend_Editor::fe_preview_config() and EPKB_Articles_Setup: on every knowledge base article page view, when the request supplies epkb_fe_reload_mode=on, an attacker-controlled JSON blob is merged over the stored KB configuration and several values are concatenated directly into a stylesheet emitted inside a literal <style> element without escaping (minify_css() does not strip <, > or /). This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that execute if they can successfully trick a user (with Editor-level access or above, holding the manage_categories capability, or an Administrator) into performing an action such as clicking on a specially crafted link.","published":"2026-10-28T08:16:29.567000+00:00","modified":"2026-10-29T02:16:45.040000+00:00","status":"Deferred","score":6.1,"severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","cvss_version":"3.1","affected":[],"weaknesses":["CWE-79"],"references":[{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/echo-knowledge-base/tags/17.214.0/includes/admin/editor/class-epkb-frontend-editor.php#L1072","source":"security@wordfence.com"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/echo-knowledge-base/tags/17.214.0/includes/admin/editor/class-epkb-frontend-editor.php#L848","source":"security@wordfence.com"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/echo-knowledge-base/tags/17.214.0/includes/class-epkb-utilities.php#L836","source":"security@wordfence.com"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/echo-knowledge-base/tags/17.214.0/includes/features/articles/class-epkb-articles-setup.php#L131","source":"security@wordfence.com"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/echo-knowledge-base/tags/17.214.0/includes/features/articles/class-epkb-articles-setup.php#L319","source":"security@wordfence.com"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/echo-knowledge-base/tags/17.214.0/includes/features/layouts/class-epkb-layouts-setup.php#L45","source":"security@wordfence.com"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/3727663/echo-knowledge-base/trunk/includes/admin/editor/class-epkb-frontend-editor.php","source":"security@wordfence.com"},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&new=3727647%40echo-knowledge-base%2Ftags%2F17.311.0&old=3672811%40echo-knowledge-base%2Ftags%2F17.214.0","source":"security@wordfence.com"},{"url":"https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/3bfab9cf-4ccb-45fc-83ce-b5250f0f6482?source=cve","source":"security@wordfence.com"}],"kev":null,"kev_checked":true,"metrics":{"cvssMetricV31":[{"source":"security@wordfence.com","type":"Secondary","cvssData":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","baseScore":6.1,"baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","attackVector":"NETWORK","attackComplexity":"LOW","privilegesRequired":"NONE","userInteraction":"REQUIRED","scope":"CHANGED","confidentialityImpact":"LOW","integrityImpact":"LOW","availabilityImpact":"NONE"},"exploitabilityScore":2.8,"impactScore":2.7}],"ssvcV203":[{"source":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","ssvcData":{"timestamp":"2026-10-29T01:28:44.586449Z","id":"CVE-2026-101935","options":[{"exploitation":"none"},{"automatable":"no"},{"technicalImpact":"partial"}],"role":"CISA Coordinator","version":"2.0.3"}}]},"configurations":[],"source":"nvd","retrieved_at":"2026-10-29T05:29:57.193839+00:00","exploited":false,"kev_stale":false,"products":[],"priority":{"label":"Assess exposure and vendor guidance","reasons":["No higher-priority signal is available in the current stored evidence."]},"epss":{"probability":0.00254,"percentile":0.16935,"date":"2026-10-29","stale":false},"version_assessment":null},"news":[],"campaigns":[],"domains":[{"domain":"plugins.trac.wordpress.org","source_url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/echo-knowledge-base/tags/17.214.0/includes/admin/editor/class-epkb-frontend-editor.php#L1072","investigate_url":"https://investigate.aeglixmind.com/#plugins.trac.wordpress.org"},{"domain":"www.wordfence.com","source_url":"https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/3bfab9cf-4ccb-45fc-83ce-b5250f0f6482?source=cve","investigate_url":"https://investigate.aeglixmind.com/#www.wordfence.com"}],"arsenal_url":"https://arsenal.aeglixmind.com/?cve=CVE-2026-101935","catalog_url":"https://cves.aeglixmind.com/cve/CVE-2026-101935","research_url":"https://investigate.aeglixmind.com/research/cve/CVE-2026-101935","coverage":{"news_candidates_checked":0,"campaign_candidates_checked":0,"bounded":false,"notice":"Exact CVE mentions in stored public excerpts and reviewed campaign content only.
